Farrell C. Shiver 
				is a member of The Southeastern Association 
				of Forensic Document Examiners and previously served as the 
				Editor of the organization's newsletter.
				The Southeastern 
				Association of Forensic Document Examiners (SAFDE) was organized 
				in 1988 and held its first annual meeting at Fort Gillem, 
				Georgia in 1989.
				The annual 
				meetings, which are normally held in the Atlanta, Georgia area, 
				involve workshops on Forensic Document Examination, as well as 
				the presentation of research papers and other presentations 
				related to the field of forensic document examination.
				Membership is 
				limited to forensic document examiners who have completed a 
				recognized full-time two-year training program in forensic document examination. Other membership requirements also 
				apply.
				Members may work 
				or reside in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, 
				Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, 
				Tennessee, Virginia, or West Virginia.  Corresponding 
				members work or reside outside these states. Current members 
				work in federal, state, local, and private forensic laboratories 
				across the southeastern United States.
